Did you imagine yourself as one of those stars of the 40's in their bias-cut silky slithers of sexuality, or did you relate to the activists of the 60's or rock stars at Woodstock? What political women helped shape your ideas?

In shaping our identity as women, we turn to many sources for inspiration. Through drawing, I explore a group of women who have made bold, dynamic statements in their art, their work, or their political lives. Some of them are universally admired; some have been concurrently vilified and lauded, while others have been destroyed by their fame. All of them are smart, sexy, and sassy. These women shaped my sense of what it means to be a woman in today’s world: to be free, to relish our sexuality, to strive for what’s important to us. They are super models for young women striving to define their own sense of self: models of intelligence, fearlessness, inspiration, conviction, morality, and humor. I hope they act as a counterweight to the Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, and Anna Nichole Smith models of corporate greed and media manipulation.
