Flesh and Bones: paintings & sculpture

Our society uses violent and sexually explicit messaging to sell products and political agendas. All that is natural, beautiful, and intimate about the human body, sexuality, and the human condition is obscured by the hard-driving beat of surface illusion and manipulation. Yet, when artists take on this distortion of human emotion, sexuality, or the call to war in their work, it is often labeled obscene or unpatriotic. This exhibition is my reaction against this barrage. I ask, "Why aren’t we allowed to be human?"
